Campus and Collegiate Life Services Division is privileged to lead a group of world class services at Otago University, dedicated to promoting the unique Otago experience and collegiate nature of the institution.
We have an exciting opportunity for a salaried Food Service Manager, based at Te Rangihīroa College, within the University Union’s College Catering Department. College Catering is a large food service operation producing over 8500 meals per day to eleven University Colleges.
Te Rangihīroa College is Otago’s newest and most modern residential College. It offers a full meal service for its 450 students and outside of semester it is a busy and vibrant conference and events location.
The role/Te mahi
We are looking for an effective leader with the vision and work ethic to maintain and further develop an already high performing food service.
As the Food Service Manager, you will be responsible for:
• overseeing the delivery and service of high-quality meals including all specialty meals and meeting dietary requirements;
• managing all kitchen and dining room staff; and
• being hands on with production when required.
Skills and experience/Kā pūkeka me kā wheako
The successful candidate will:
• Have significant experience in the hospitality industry and in Food Management.
• Be a fully qualified Chef (City of London Guilds or Level 4 equivalent).
• Have a current driver’s licence.
• Have strong customer service experience.
• Be an outstanding communicator.
• Have experience in operating and controlling a food safety program.
• Have experience in the delivery of high quality, varied and nutritious meals, considering any special dietary needs.
• Have experience in business computing applications.
A high level of competency and the ability to work as part of a team is important. The successful applicant would have the ability to help develop a mutual respect between primary customers and staff.

This is a full-time (40 hours per week, normal hours of work Monday to Friday), permanent, full year position, based in Dunedin.
The appointment range for this position is $73,900 to $82,935 per annum, top of range $91,970 per annum.
