How you’ll make an impact
The Financial Reporting Manager is responsible for ensuring that Xero’s financial reporting is of the highest standard and prepared in a timely manner with meaningful insight. The incumbent will develop a thorough understanding of the Xero business environment and be an expert in the application of accounting standards to report Xero’s business operations, including non-financial KPI’s related to Xero’s Integrated Reporting. Reporting into the Head of Financial Reporting, you will build strong relationships throughout the business and become a trusted advisor to the business.
What you’ll do
- Manage and develop a team of accountants to drive continuous improvement
- Develop Xero’s corporate reporting suite to ensure the drivers for all non-financial KPI’s are streamlined and this reporting has a rigorous process with appropriate controls
- Develop Xero’s integrated reporting (including financial reporting) to respond to changes to the Group and the environment in which it operates
- Play a key role in the month end close process, while embedding efficiencies and improvements
- Production of financial reporting to the Board, XLT and business, working in partnership with the Financial Planning teams and other areas to provide high quality clear and insightful information
- Contribute to the production of bi-annual external reporting commentaries and analysis that provide meaningful insight for investors and analysts, with a particular focus on non-financial
- KPI’s and Xero’s evolving Integrated Reporting
- Ensure that documents produced conform to the high standards of accuracy and writing quality expected for this high-profile market communication, and is produced within the tight timeframes required
- Analyse financial performance and in so doing contribute to medium and long-term business plans/forecasts
- Provide advice on the technical and financial implications and consequences of business decisions
- Participate in significant corporate or company-wide finance projects and initiatives as directed by the GM - Group Reporting and Head of Financial Reporting
What you’ll bring with you
- 7+ years’ experience in finance roles, either in a large corporate or big 4 accounting firm
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, standards and processes
- Appropriate qualification, for example CA or equivalent
- Understanding of Integrated Reporting or other sustainability reporting desired but not essential
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Problem solving skills and proven ability to manage multiple deliverables simultaneously
- Strong planning, organisational and self management skills
- A genuine team player who works collaboratively with and contributes to the function of a high performing team
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills in both formal and informal settings
