CMT Group is a leading civil and construction company delivering high-quality roading, 3-waters, and subdivision projects across Marlborough. We are growing, and we are looking for a skilled Senior Project Manager to lead complex projects, and build capability across our civil delivery teams.

About the Role

As our Senior Project Manager, you will:

• Overall responsibility for our Civil Department.

• Lead multiple large-scale civil projects from planning through to completion.

• Ensure projects meet scope, budget, quality, and regulatory requirements.

• Provide leadership and support to project managers, supervisors, and our civil team.

• Manage procurement, scheduling, resourcing, and stakeholder engagement.

• Drive commercial performance including financial reporting, forecasting, and variation management.

• Build and maintain strong client and consultant relationships.

• Oversee project governance, risk management, and reporting cycles.

• Champion a high-performance culture with a strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards.

• Contribute to strategic planning, operational improvements, and workforce development.

About You

You’ll bring:

• Extensive project management experience in civil, roading, or 3-waters.

• Proven success delivering complex projects ($1m–$10m).

• Strong commercial acumen and financial management capability.

• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and subcontractors.

• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.

• Advanced planning, prioritisation, and problem-solving ability.

• A collaborative leadership style with a passion for developing people.

Qualifications:

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Building Science, or equivalent.

• Project management certification (PMP, Prince2) - desirable.

• Health & Safety leadership training - desirable.
