About the role

Abstract Hotel is undergoing an exciting transformation — evolving into a 4.5-star boutique hotel with a distinctive, arty and soulful identity in the heart of Auckland. Our Room Attendants take pride in presenting immaculate guest rooms and public areas, delivering the kind of hospitality our elevated new brand is known for. Our Houseman supports the wider housekeeping team with heavier duties, logistics and back-of-house upkeep — keeping everything running smoothly behind the scenes. Together, this team is central to the guest experience at Abstract Hotel.

Key responsibilities

• Clean and service guest rooms to a high standard, including bed making, bathroom cleaning, dusting and vacuuming
• Restock room amenities, linen and supplies
• Report maintenance issues and lost property promptly
• Transport linen, supplies and equipment between floors and storage areas
• Assist Room Attendants with heavier tasks (moving furniture, deep cleans, turning mattresses etc.)
• Manage rubbish and recycling collection
• Maintain cleanliness of corridors, lifts, stairwells and public/back-of-house areas
• Follow health, safety and hygiene procedures at all times
• Support the team during busy periods and events

About you

• Previous experience in housekeeping, hotels or a similar physical role preferred (not essential)
• A keen eye for detail and pride in your work
• Good physical fitness — these roles involve standing, bending, lifting and being on your feet
• Reliable, with a strong work ethic and ability to work well in a team
• Flexibility to work weekends and public holidays
• Right to work in New Zealand
