The Fono is a leading Pacific health and social service provider, delivering integrated, culturally grounded care to Pacific families across Aotearoa. Our services span primary care, public health, Whānau Ora, and community wellbeing, all underpinned by Pacific values, connection, and respect.
We are passionate about creating welcoming, mana-enhancing experiences for every person who walks through our doors.
We are looking for a warm, confident, and highly organised Medical Receptionist who thrives in a busy healthcare environment and genuinely enjoys supporting people.
As the first point of contact for our patients and whānau, you’ll play a critical role in setting the tone of their experience — balancing compassion with efficiency, and accuracy with approachability.
This role suits someone who is calm under pressure, comfortable juggling competing priorities, and aligned with The Fono’s commitment to culturally responsive care.
Welcoming patients, whānau, and visitors with professionalism and cultural sensitivity
Managing appointment bookings, recalls, and follow-ups in a fast-paced clinic
Processing payments, ACC claims, and invoices, including daily banking reconciliation
Maintaining accurate and confidential patient records using clinical management systems (e.g. MedTech 32 or Evolution)
Supporting clinicians and the wider team with administrative and operational tasks
Assisting with system processes and contributing to a smooth, well-run reception
Upholding health, safety, and privacy standards at all times
Proven experience in a reception or administration role (healthcare experience is strongly preferred)
Confident customer service skills, with the ability to engage positively with diverse communities
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, particularly around bookings and payments
Confidence using computer systems, including Microsoft Office and clinical booking software
Cultural awareness and sensitivity, with an understanding of Pacific values and protocols
Pacific language skills are an advantage, but not essential
A team-focused mindset and willingness to pitch in where needed
Be part of a purpose-driven organisation making a real difference in the community
Work alongside supportive, values-led teams
Stable, full-time permanent role
Ongoing learning and development within a large, established organisation
A workplace where culture, respect, and people genuinely matter
