Operations Manager – Wenzel Motel Group

Full-Time, Salaried Position (variable 35–45 hours per week)
Location: Based in Tauranga with occasional travel to Thames

About the Role

We’re looking for a motivated and organized Operations Manager to join our friendly team and oversee the smooth running of our motel operations. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll ensure efficiency, uphold high standards, and deliver exceptional guest experiences while managing budgets and profitability.

You’ll work closely with the Owner and Director, providing strategic planning and operational leadership across all departments. Your goal: maximize guest satisfaction and operational performance.

You will lead a team of 30 staff members and contractors. 4 Motels, 2 in Tauranga and 2 in Thames.

Key Responsibilities

• Support Motel Managers and provide HR guidance

• Oversee day-to-day motel operations and staff management

• Operate and maintain our booking management system (Abode and STAAH)

• Organize quotes, orders, and purchasing (MYOB)

• Implement training and standard operating procedures

• Maximize room yield and revenue management

• Maintain strong relationships with regular and corporate clients

• Assist with reservations and guest care

• Contribute to business structure and development

• Marketing, Sales and revenue driven

• Payroll, Debtors, Creditors

• Rate management, OTA's management

• Business development, overseeing maintenance schedule and renovations

About You

• Reliable, organized, and detail-oriented

• Able to work independently and efficiently

• Friendly, approachable, and professional

• Experience with accounting software

• Previous experience in a similar role is desirable
