We have a wonderful opportunity for an experienced RegisteredMidwife to join our team alongside LMCs, committed to facilitatingbirthing in the community.

The role requiresyou to be available for all shifts within arolling roster. This position will provide for the Oromairaki rostering inSelwyn as a priority. On occasion if that unit is quiet we expect shifts willbe moved to other maternity facilities. We will also orientate you to our otherfacilities in Christchurch. If you are not confident providing complex care,then we would be sure to only transfer shifts to the maternity ward.

Christchurch Women�s Hospital (CWH), based in central ?tautahi(Christchurch), is a modern acute, teaching hospital for midwifery andobstetrics. Canterbury has over 6000 births per annum and we are the tertiaryreferral centre for the bulk of Te Waipounamu (the South Island).

Canterbury is fortunate to have four community units with a newcentral city unit opening in 2023. Oromairaki is replacing one of the existing four(Lincoln), a contemporary new birthing unit located within the Selwyn HealthHub (Toka Hap?i)that is hoped will open in May this year. This positionwill commence at Lincoln Maternity Unit on the 28th of March.

  • Experienced Registered Midwife with a current NZpracticing certificate
  • Ableto practise autonomously in the community including confidence with obstetricand neonatal emergencies and ability to cannulate.
  • Apassion for primary birthing and supporting women to initiate breastfeeding
  • A commitment to equity and our responsibilitiesunder Te Tiriti o Waitangi within maternity services
  • The ability to be adaptable, flexible andsolution focused
