About this work area 

As an IKEA Sales Co-worker your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: 

  • Engage and assist customers in understanding their needs and providing your knowledge on IKEA products and services to support their purchasing decisions. 

  • Actively participating in selling products with a positive attitude and contribute to business goals and growth. 

  • Deliver a seamless sales and customer experience at IKEA, ensuring an engaging journey across all omnichannel touchpoints. 

  • Being an expert and passionate about the IKEA product range; and actively learning about their features and benefits. 

  • Responsible for ensuring that the sales area is stocked, presentable, attractively merchandised and correctly priced. 

  • Assembling our products according to proper building and enclosed instructions to ensure complete functionality. 

  • You understand the IKEA customer journey, ensuring a seamless and inspiring experience across all touchpoints - from initial exploration to in-store interactions and post-purchase support. 

  • Building strong relationships with your team and other departments to promote a collaborative and inclusive work environment.  

  • You will understand the IKEA customer journey and recognise that customers interact with IKEA across multiple touchpoints not just in-store; such as the IKEA website, app, and social media. 

  • You will familiarise yourself with the IKEA app and website to understand how customers browse, purchase, and engage digitally. 

  • You will understand home delivery and additional services, such as furniture assembly, to better assist customers. 

 

As an IKEA Sales Co-worker you are or have: 

  • Proven experience in a sales or customer service role, ideally within home furnishing or fast-faced retail environment. 

  • Passionate about home furnishings and appreciator of quality focusing on maintaining a high level of product knowledge and sharing the IKEA product range with customers. 

  • Strong communication skills and ability to connect with others, you can understand the customer's needs and the ability to build strong relationships. 

  • An authentic approach in generating sales, whilst maintaining a professional, self-motivated attitude towards meeting sales targets and KPIs. 

  • Clear and concise communication skills, a keen eye for detail and strong problem-solving skills. 

  • A 'Togetherness' mindset with the ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a team environment. 

  • Proficient computer skills and an ability to learn about all technical aspects of the IKEA product range and tools. 

  • A safe mindset and being comfortable with physical work and manual handling including repetitive movements and lifting. 

What you need to know 

  • The work location for this role is our Sylivia Park store, Auckland however as you will be starting before the store opens, you may also work from our Warehouse in Māngere. 

  • We are recruiting for several permanent positions with a range of working hours with a range of full time and part time hours: 

  • 80 hours per fortnight  

  • 60-79 hours per fortnight 

  • 40-59 hours per fortnight 

  • 20-39 hours per fortnight 

  • The internal title for this role is IKEA Co-worker. 

  • The expected start date for this role is 25/08/25. 

  • The first step of the recruitment process will be an application form. If you are successful to the next step, you will be notified via email and invited to complete a Video Interview. 

  • As our store operates 7 days per week, you must have the availability to work a rotating roster with a mix of day and evening shifts based on trading hours. You also must have the availability to work weekends.

  • Car parking will not be provided and therefore IKEA encourages all Co-workers to utilise public transport wherever possible.
