Mō te tūnga | About the role
We are seeking a Kairuruku – Te Iho to play a pivotal role in the coordination and delivery of Aotearoa’s emerging national Māori news platform.
Te Iho is a digital pātaka of daily Māori news content, bringing together regional and national providers from across the motu. In this role, you will provide operational coordination, planning, and workflow support to ensure content is delivered smoothly from gathering through to publication.
You will work closely with internal teams, regional providers, and platform partners to support content flow, maintain quality standards, and strengthen collaboration across the Māori media ecosystem. This is a role for someone who thrives on organisation, relationship-building, and enabling others to succeed.
This is a full-time, fixed-term position till February 2027 and is based at our head office in East Tāmaki.
Ngā kawenga matua | Key responsibilities
Act as a key liaison between regional and national Māori news providers, publishers, and stakeholders
Build and maintain trusted relationships to support collaboration and smooth content delivery
Coordinate hui, wānanga, and sector engagement activities
Support onboarding of new providers and platforms
Coordinate the intake, management, and publishing of news content across platforms
Ensure content meets metadata, attribution, and usage requirements
Support consistent workflows from news gathering through to publication
Track content usage in line with agreements
Monitor content to ensure it meets editorial, cultural, legal, and technical standards
Identify risks or issues early and escalate where required
Support providers with guidance on content protocols and expectations
Gather and collate data on content flow, provider activity, and platform performance
Monitor workflows and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and quality
Support reporting to stakeholders to inform planning and decision-making
Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | What you’ll bring
Experience in journalism, media, or digital content environments
Understanding of content workflows, CMS platforms, and multi-platform publishing
Familiarity with editorial standards, media compliance, and content governance
Ability to interpret basic analytics or workflow data to support improvements
Strong organisation, coordination, and time management skills
Excellent written and verbal communication
Ability to build relationships and work across multiple stakeholders
Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail
Adaptability and resilience in a dynamic environment
Strong understanding of te ao Māori and tikanga Māori
Proficiency in te reo Māori, or a commitment to developing capability
Ability to apply cultural perspectives within a media or content context
