Senior Audio Visual Technician - Work and live in Queenstown

Senior Audio Visual Technician - Work and live in Queenstown

External Role until 01 May 2026

Custom Digital is a well-established Wanaka-based audio visual and home automation company delivering high-end residential projects across the Southern Lakes region. With continued growth in Queenstown, we are seeking an experienced Senior Audio Visual Technician to be based in Queenstown and take ownership of our expanding Queenstown workload.

Work on premium residential and architectural homes while building your career in one of New Zealand’s most sought-after regions. We are known for quality workmanship, strong customer relationships, and delivering projects to a high professional standard.

This is a foundational senior role - you will lead installations on site, operate with autonomy, and help shape the delivery of our Queenstown projects as the region continues to grow, with the opportunity to develop a local team over time.

We offer a competitive senior-level salary, full-time stability, and the backing of an experienced Wanaka-based team with established systems, structure, and support.

This role suits a hands-on senior technician who works independently, leads confidently on site, and consistently delivers high standards of workmanship.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Leading installation and commissioning of residential AV and home theatre systems

  • Advanced fault-finding and troubleshooting across AV and networking systems

  • Work with automation and control systems such as Control4, KNX, C-Bus or similar (training and upskilling provided)

  • Taking ownership of projects on site, ensuring quality and efficiency

  • Working directly with clients, builders, and other trades

  • Maintaining excellent site presentation, documentation, and safety standards

What we’re looking for:

  • Proven experience as a senior or lead Audio Visual Technician

  • Strong knowledge of residential AV and home theatre

  • Solid understanding of networking and IT infrastructure

  • Some exposure to automation or control systems

  • Ability to work autonomously and make sound technical decisions

  • Strong problem-solving skills, pride in workmanship and attention to detail

  • Professional, client-focused communication

  • Reliable, organised, and deadline-driven

  • Full NZ driver’s licence

What’s on offer:

  • Full-time, senior-level role

  • Competitive remuneration based on experience

  • Company vehicle, company iPhone and laptop

  • Technical Upskilling - benefit from a commitment to learning and development to improve your technical knowledge and learn new skills

  • Work on premium residential and architectural projects

  • Opportunity to help grow Custom Digital’s Queenstown presence

  • Support from an experienced Wanaka-based team

  • Queenstown-based role with a genuine work-life balance in a world-class outdoor destination

This role is based in Queenstown, with occasional travel to Wanaka.

Applicants must have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa.
