Here's your chance to work on complex automation challenges spanning dairy processing, manufacturing operations, energy systems, water/waste treatment, and pharmaceuticals.
Design control systems from scratch, program PLCs and HMI/SCADA, simulate and test solutions, then commission fully operational systems for major manufacturing clients.
Based in Taranaki, you'll enjoy small-town living, NZ's top sunshine region for 2025! You'll benefit from affordable property prices, zero traffic stress, and world-class outdoor recreation from surfing Taranaki’s consistent breaks to mountain biking at Mangamahoe Mountain Bike Park or tramping Mt Taranaki.
You’ll enjoy a new, purpose-built facility with an ergonomic office setup designed for engineering productivity, and colleagues who are happy to help if you want to bounce something off them. With an average staff tenure of 10+ years, you'll work alongside very experienced engineers who provide mentorship and share their knowledge.
What sets this role apart:
Diverse Projects: Work across dairy processing plants, pharmaceutical manufacturing, energy infrastructure, and food & beverage production. You'll design complete systems rather than just maintaining existing setups.
Variety of Control Systems: Program across multiple controls platforms including Rockwell, Schneider, Wonderware, and GE Vernova iFIX. The company actively invests in training on systems like FactoryTalk Optix, AVEVA Intouch HMI, and Functional Safety Certification.
Direct Client Impact: Work face-to-face with operations managers and plant engineers to solve real production challenges. Your solutions will directly improve efficiency and productivity for New Zealand's essential industries.
Benefits include:
• Time and a half for any hours over 40 hours (note: work-life balance is a priority)
• Discretionary bonus system (up to 5% of salary based on performance)
• Employee assistance program (counselling support extended to family)
• $500 annual wellbeing allowance
• Relocation Assistance
What you'll do:
Design control system architecture from concept through commissioning. Program PLCs, configure HMI/SCADA systems, and integrate automation platforms to meet specific client requirements. Lead on-site installation and commissioning while working directly with clients to refine designs based on operational feedback.
You'll also troubleshoot existing systems, generate technical documentation, and stay current with emerging automation technologies to maintain the company's competitive edge in the market.
What you need:
• Engineering degree in automation, electrical, or a related discipline
• 3-6 years hands-on industrial automation experience (service + projects)
• Strong PLC programming and HMI/SCADA implementation experience
• Working knowledge of Rockwell, Schneider, Wonderware, or GE Vernova iFIX
• Experience with system commissioning and client-facing work
• NZ work rights (Citizens, Permanent Residents, Resident Visa holders)

With ISO 9001 and ISO 45001 certifications, they maintain exceptional quality and safety standards. They're expanding their engineering team to meet growing demand from major industrial clients.
