About the Role

Rydges Latimer Christchurch is a 4.5-star hotel set beside leafy Latimer Square in the heart of the CBD, just a short walk from One NZ Stadium and Te Pae Convention Centre. With 175 rooms, 11 flexible conference and event spaces, and Bloody Mary's Bar, Lounge & Grill, this is a busy hotel with plenty of public spaces to keep spotless. As a Public Area Cleaner, you'll play a key role in ensuring our lobby, corridors, lifts, meeting spaces and other public areas are always presented to the highest standard, helping create a great first impression for every guest who walks through the door.

Key Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain all public areas, including the lobby, corridors, lifts, stairwells and public restrooms, to a consistently high standard.
• Vacuum, mop, dust and polish surfaces throughout public spaces, including glass, mirrors and fittings.
• Set up and maintain conference and meeting spaces between events, ensuring they are clean and presentation-ready.
• Collect and dispose of rubbish and recycling from public areas in line with hotel procedures.
• Report any maintenance issues, damaged items or necessary repairs to the Housekeeping Manager or Maintenance Team.
• Respond promptly to guest requests and assist other departments when required.
• Follow all safety and hygiene protocols, including the correct use of PPE and cleaning chemicals.
• Maintain flexible availability, including weekends and evenings.

What You'll Bring

• Previous commercial cleaning or housekeeping experience in a hotel or similar setting is preferred.
• Physical stamina and fitness, with the ability to lift, push and pull heavy objects.
• Strong attention to detail, with pride in delivering high standards of cleanliness and presentation.
• A collaborative, dependable approach and the ability to work productively under pressure.
• Good availability across a full time roster, including weekends and evenings.
