Avanti Finance Group is seeking a Head of Collections to lead our end-to-end collections strategy and operations across a diverse portfolio. This senior leadership role is pivotal in balancing commercial outcomes with customer-centric practices, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving continuous improvement in collections effectiveness and experience.

As a key member of the Risk and Operations leadership team, you’ll shape strategy, build high-performing teams, and deliver operational excellence from early intervention through to legal recovery.

What You’ll Do

• Develop and execute strategies aligned with business objectives and risk appetite. Drive arrears reduction, loss mitigation, and recovery targets.
• Design and maintain operating models, policies, and workflows. Champion automation and digitisation initiatives.
• Uphold CCCFA, Privacy Act, Harassment Act, and industry codes. Embed frameworks for hardship and vulnerable customers.
• Build capability, drive engagement, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and customer focus.
• Collaborate with Risk, Operations, Technology, Product, and Finance to deliver integrated strategies and insights 

About You

• 10+ years in financial services collections, credit risk, or operations, with 5+ years in senior leadership roles.
• Deep understanding of NZ collections legislation and hardship frameworks.
• Ability to balance recovery outcomes with customer treatment and cost efficiency.
• Track record of building engaged, high-performing teams and influencing at executive level.
• Skilled in collections systems, workflow platforms, analytics tools, and driving automation.
