We’re on the lookout for a detail-driven, commercially minded Assistant Buyer to join our Product Team at Target Furniture’s Support Office in Botany. This is a permanent, full-time role, working either 4 x 7.5 hour days or 5 x 6 hour days per week – we’re flexible for the right person.

 

You’ll be supporting our Product Manager across a wide scope of responsibilities, where no two days are the same. It’s a fast-paced environment that values creativity, collaboration, and making things happen.

 

Working in the product team you will be:

 

  • Assisting in product range development – from item selection to fabric and colour research

  • Providing pricing and margin recommendations based on advanced pre-costing

  • Managing stock control tasks, order movements, re-ordering, and liaising with local suppliers

  • Preparing and maintaining accurate product data – SKU setup, specs, descriptions, and AI generation

  • Supporting new range implementation and preparing product information for retail teams

  • Carrying out market research to inform buying decisions

  • Providing cover for the Buyer’s Assistant when needed

  • Collaborating closely with international and local suppliers, store teams, and our customer support teams

  • Assisting with shipping, import costing, and documentation

 

About you | Ō pūmanawa

You’re sharp, organised, and ready to roll up your sleeves. You’ll have:

 

  • A background in buying, category support, or procurement

  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills (we mean pivot tables, not just spreadsheets!)

  • An understanding of import costing and shipping documentation

  • Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal

  • A high level of self-drive and the ability to manage and prioritise your own workload

  • The ability to work independently and solve problems as they come

  • A passion for home furniture and design trends

An eye for fashion or interiors is a bonus – but a curious mindset and strong commercial thinking are essential.
