The Project 

The New Dunedin Hospital project is the single largest hospital project ever undertaken in New Zealand. Following an extended period of Early Contractor Engagement, Te Whatu Ora Health New Zealand has confirmed their intention to enter into contract with CPB Contractors for the Inpatient Building, in recognition of our depth of experience in the delivery of healthcare facilities across Australasia and our contribution to the project to date.

Spanning 71,700m2 and constructed on the former Cadbury Chocolate Factory in the center of the city, the Inpatient Building will provide high-quality acute medical facilities in support of its role as a tertiary teaching hospital. Onsite services will include 424 beds, including future expansion of 53 beds. A total of 24 theatres, including a future capacity of 2 theatres, imaging suites and radiology. With a five-star Greenstar sustainability rating, the building's design and its use of the latest technology will provide real change to the delivery of healthcare within the region.

Your Opportunity

  • As the Construction Manager / Senior Site Manager you will be responsible for the management pf all production activities across the project, with the works executed by multiple trade subcontractors. 

Our minimum requirements for this role are:

  • Formal trade certification, or recognised Construction Management or Engineering qualifications
  • Must have strong leadership and practical problem-solving skills
  • Proven expertise in Site Management
  • Must have knowledge of hospital fit out and completion requirements 
  • Must Have major project experience (c. $250Million plus)
  • Likely to have more than 20 years experience 
  • Excellent planning skills . Excellent coordination and communication skills

Key Focus Areas:  

  • Ensures subcontractors understand and achieve agreed production requirements and sequence
  • Manage works to programme and budget
  • Manage quality of the works (quality control/ quality of product) 
  • Resolve sequencing and logistical challenges, day to day progress and interfaces
  • Managing and Mentoring Supervisors and Engineers to ensure that the team works together 
  • Ensure subcontractor's logistics requirements are well communicated and followed through by the logistics team
  • Manage and mitigate subcontractor interface risk and interface problems
  • Ensure that the supervision team maintains daily site records, recording daily productivity, material usage and manpower and issues with progress against targets 
  • Enforce and ensure subcontractors comply with agreed site safety requirements
