We’re looking for an experienced Mechanical Project Engineer to join our Christchurch-based team. This is a hands-on, end-to-end role for someone who enjoys technical problem-solving, seeing design come to life, site delivery, and strong customer engagement.

The role

As a Project Engineer, you’ll be a key member of our Engineering Team, responsible for delivering mechanical and process engineering projects safely, on time, and on budget.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Project engineering from concept, feasibility, and design through to delivery

  • Site measure-ups, customer briefings, and solution development

  • Mechanical design and design detailing support

  • Estimating, tendering, and procurement

  • Manufacturing and construction supervision

  • Commissioning and handover of engineered solutions

  • Supporting service teams with engineering input

  • Identifying business development opportunities and “soft” sales

  • Managing outsourced resources and subcontractors

  • Ensuring QA/QC sign-off and compliance

  • Maintaining strong cost, schedule, and safety controls

You’ll work closely with customers, sales engineers, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure successful project outcomes and long-term customer relationships.


About you

You’ll bring:

  • 5+ years’ experience in Mechanical Project Engineering or Project Management

  • Strong technical capability with a practical, delivery-focused mindset

  • Experience in feasibility studies, estimating, and procurement

  • Sound project cost control and scheduling experience

  • Ability to match technical solutions to customer needs

  • Experience with SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD

  • A solid understanding of the sales and tendering process

  • Leadership capability and confidence working with site teams

  • A strong commitment to safety, quality, and customer experience

Experience in heavy industry, materials handling, timber processing, or similar environments is highly regarded.
